mentor, social engineer, counseINTRODUCTION
In every profession, there are roles and responsibilities and boundaries
that are set in order to divide the line that indicates the farthest limit.
Roles and responsibilities are important because they would facilitate order in
any given organisation and allow personal and organisational objectives to be
met, as those with roles will be accountable to their functions. Actions and
activities assingned to or required or expected of a person or group are
reffered to as “roles” while the obligations to carry forward an assigned task
to a successful conclusion are referred to as “responsibilities”. “All learning
institutions are subject to legislation”.

KNOWLEDGE
WORKER
The
kind of teaching today requires teachers to be high level knowledge as well as
that of their proffesions. To attract and develop knowledge workers, education
systems need to transform the leadership and work organization of their schools
to an environment in which professional norms of management complement
bureaucratic and administrative forms of control , with the status , pay
,professional autonomy, and the high quality education that go with
professional work, and with effective systems of a teacher evaluation, with
differentiated career paths and career diversity for teachers. The most
important part is to be resourceful and be as much knowledge as you can.
Facilitator
A facilitator of learning,
therefore, is a teacher who does not operate under the traditional concept of
teaching but rather is meant to guide and assist students in learning for
themselves picking apart ideas, forming their own thoughts about them, and
owing material through self – exploration and dialogue.
scaffolder
In the field of education
the term scaffolding refers to a process in which teachers model or demonstrate
how to solve a problem and then step back , offering support as needed.
“In education scaffolding
refers to a variety of instructional techniques used to move students
progressively toward stronger understanding and ultimately, greater
independence in the learning
process”

to promote the growth and development of the beginning teacher to improve student learning. When new
teachers are hired, they are expected to impact student learning immediately
without the benefit to any period of apprenticeship.
social engineer
The role of a teacher in a
society is both significant and valuable. Teachers are the pillars and makers
of the society. They are the source of knowledge and skill. He is a social
engineer and sculptor, because by his esteem knowledge and skill he mould his
students. According to his ideals in his classroom.
Counsilor
In the perspective of
school. The teacher is a counsilor and the students either approached the
teacher when she/he ha a problem , which cannot we solving by self or the
teacher senses the problem and offers help to by die students to solve the
problem properly. The addresses not only problems related to the school but
also those related to friends family health etc..
TO be an effective
counsellor a teacher must be aware of the following things:-
Being keen observant
Being sensitive
Being empathetic and
Being objective
REFLECTIVE PRACTIONER
Reflective teaching means looking at what you do the classroom ,
thinking about why you do it , and thinking about if it works – a process of
self observation and self evaluation. By collecting information what goes on in
our classroom and by analysing and evaluating this information we identify and
explore our own practices. To changes and improvements in our teaching .
reflective teaching is therefore a means of professional developments which
begins in our classroom.
Conclusion
Roles and
responsibilities are important because they will promote accountability among
teachers and will help meet personal, organisational goals and individual
learner needs. It would be frustrating if teaches lacked clarity on their roles and responsibilities because they would be stuck
with who is doing what and who answers to whom? When these roles and responsibilities are applied, they
benefit both the learner and teacher, by delivering learning which is inclusive
and promotes
equality and diversity. The level of motivation, satisfaction and will help to
achieve the goals for both the learner and me. This is likely to result in
learners having a good foundation for their course and be able to prepare
adequately. Thus the roles of the teacher is very crucial in the moulding up of
the character of a child. It will determine his/her destiny. A good teacher
should integrate all the skills and provide necessary environment for the
upbringing of his or her students. WAYT (2008) “The responsibility of a teacher
will be to continually reassess development and change during the course and
create a seamless transition to ensure smooth delivery”.lor, reflective practitioner and digital migrant
